The project at hand
This project was not just a logo design, it was the creation of an identity. Diane’s Studio for Hair was a project to create and develop an identity that turned into a brand. This project was exciting to the vast nature of creativity I could input. The initial brief was to create a logo; however, we went beyond to design signage for the small business and come up with a brand that is cohesive and reflects the owner, her personality, and identity.
Design challange
The challenge at hand was the formation of an identity. The client was not so sure what she wanted, however with cultural roots of Bali and being Hindu, she wanted to incorporate her roots and everyday life into the logo. She agreed to create a logo based on the Hindu Ganesa God.
Another challenge faced with the creation of this identity and brand was the illustration of Ganesa.
Originally creating an outline of a sketch, the design needed to be detailed due to the many elements portrayed in Hindu art and sculpture work I had initially researched. Diane after seeing the initial sketches wanted to fully represent the God and requested the Red, White and Black colours which are symbolically important in Hindu culture. II mimicked the colours to the art and added a gold swatch to the coloured design.
